Suspect In Custody After Three Shot At Tuscaloosa Gas Station

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An arrest has been announced after three people were injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting at a Tuscaloosa gas station.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Sunday night told local media that Tuscaloosa Police officers responded at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the initial shooting call at the Texaco gas station at 5400 McFarland Boulevard.

The suspect was identified as Jayshawn Sharmaine Reed, 27.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, said Reed has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Kennedy then said Reed would be held with no bond pending further review by the court.

As Patch previously reported, Captain Marty Sellers said three male victims were injured in the shooting and all are in stable condition.

Kennedy said Sunday night that after interviewing witnesses and processing the scene for evidence, a suspect and his vehicle were identified.

“TPD patrol located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody,” he said. “Currently, multiple search warrants are being executed in multiple locations to recover evidence.”
