'Still Investigating It': Cops Continue Probe Of Raveis Fatal Crash
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield mother-of-three Meghan Raveis was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on June 23, and more than two weeks later, the investigation into the crash continues.
Raveis, 45, was walking on Redding Road in Fairfield just before 3 p.m. on the 23rd when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by a person who Fairfield police have yet to publicly identify.
“A pedestrian was walking southbound alongside the northbound travel lane on Redding Road,” Fairfield police wrote in a statement a day after the crash. “At approximately 14:55 hours, a southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane, striking a mailbox and then the pedestrian.”

Soon after the crash, residents called for safety measures along Redding Road; the fatal crash that claimed Raveis’ life is the second fatal pedestrian crash on the road in three years.
Private services were held for Raveis earlier this month. Not long after the crash, flowers were placed marking the area on Redding Road.

On Tuesday, Fairfield Police Lt. Michael Paris told Patch that the probe into the crash is continuing.
“We are still investigating it,” Paris said.
In the weeks since the crash, residents are asking questions about why the investigation is seemingly taking so long, and will the driver potentially face charges.
Paris did not offer specifics, but said investigations into fatal crashes are time-consuming.
“These crash investigations take time and yes, the driver may face charges, but we have not come to that conclusion yet,” Paris told Patch.
