MILFORD, CT – Splash Express Car Wash is back in Milford after being away from its home city for some time.

“We moved our corporate office to Milford at Wheelers Farm Road about three years ago, and we used to have a car wash in Milford behind a gas station on Woodmont Road,” Jason Frank said, Splash Express Car Wash area manager. “We got out of that location about 20 years ago, and Milford has been a place we’ve wanted to get back into.”

On Monday, July 17, Splash Express Car Wash officially opened to the public after receiving its certificate of occupancy.

Splash Express Car Wash is located at 1553 Boston Post Road in Milford, making it their 58th location in the state.

“We started to look for properties in Milford when we started to grow again over the past six years,” Frank said.

Frank said they will do a three-day promotion with the Milford Boys and Girls Club in the first or second weekend of August.

“We are going to do a charity event with them where we will wash cars for free to anybody who donates to the Boys and Girls Club,” he said. “The dates are still being finalized, but the Boys and Girls Club is already on board.”

Splash Express Car Wash looked at several locations in Milford before deciding to purchase the site at 1553 Boston Post Road.

“This was one of the first projects for me to be involved in the process from start to finish,” Frank said. “It’s also special to me because I’m from Milford and grew up in Milford.”

As the Slash Express Car Wash Team was scouting for a location, they knew they wanted to be on a busy road and in an area with an excellent car-washing demographic.

“We look at how many competitors are in the area, what the median household is, and the habits of the car customers in the area are,” Frank said. “All of those things played into making our decision.”

“Sean Truncone is the manager at our new location,” he added.

Frank said there were two locations they were considering purchasing, but the more they looked at the 1553 Boston Post Road location, the more they liked where it was situated – between the Connecticut Post Mall and Costco.

“We have the newest and best equipment in the car wash tunnel, and everything is fully automated,” he said. “We are using all NeoGlide Foam that is safe to use on any car finish.”

“You can’t go anywhere in Connecticut and find the equipment we use here,” Frank added.

When designing the car wash tunnel, they decided to go with an open concept and use large windows to let natural light into the tunnel.

“Many people have had connotations of feeling closed in, claustrophobia or dark when going through carwash tunnels,” Frank said. “We focused on having things be open with a lot of space, natural light, and some LED lighting.”
