Retiring Leinster hooker Aaron Dundon to make instant switch to coaching in Jackman’s Grenoble

LEINSTER HOOKER AARON Dundon will today be unveiled as Grenoble’s forwards coach in an announcement which will also include the promotion of Bernard Jackman to director of rugby with the French club.

Jackman has been head coach with Grenoble for the past two seasons and will now take over from Fabrice Landreau in the top job at Stade des Alpes in a move which will see his contract extended to 2019.

The former Irish, Leinster and Connacht hooker has been with Grenoble since going there as defence consultant in 2011. One of his first announcements will be the appointment today of Leinster hooker Aaron Dundon, who had followed a very similar path as Jackman.

Dundon, a Kiwi who made 49 appearances for Leinster since 2010 before retiring this week, has been forwards coach with Clontarf and coach with Newbridge College.

Jackman coached Clontarf and Newbridge RFC on his way to now taking the top job in Grenoble, where former Munster scrum-half Mike Prendergast will continue as backs coach next season.

Paul O’Connell and Stan Wright, a good friend of Jackman and former teammate at Leinster, had been linked to the Grenoble forwards job but it’s understood he is going home to the Cook Islands after playing for Oyonnax this season.
