Police Chief Honored By Barnegat Ahead Of Retirement
BARNEGAT, NJ — Ahead of his upcoming retirement, the Barnegat Township Committee took time at their latest meeting to celebrate and honor the 30-year career of Police Chief Keith Germain.
Germain, a lifelong Barnegat resident, will officially retire from the force on March 13. Current Captain Jason Carroll will take his place to lead the department.
“I know that his love, care and concern for his family is equally matched by his love, care and concern for the town of Barnegat,” Mayor Joseph Marte said of Germain. “That is evidenced by the fact that our town has consistently year after year been the safest in Ocean County.”

In honor of Germain’s service, the Township Committee presented him with a commemorative plaque thanking him for “going above and beyond serving and protecting the residents of Barnegat Township.”
Marte, describing Germain as a respectful man with a zest for life who enjoys the occasional Manhattan, said that he was his “ideal chief.”

“His goal has always been to hire and train the best,” Marte said.
Germain thanked his wife and family for their support and said that all the accolades he and the department had received could not be possible without “the men and women of this agency.”
He said that every time he had received a pat on the back, “you’re patting this department on the back and this committee on the back.”
Germain also thanked everyone else who helped him in the administration.
“I know this place is in really good hands,” he said.
