'Pelicans In Flight:' Carlsbad Photo Of The Week
CARLSBAD, CA — On a brisk November evening, a group of pelicans flew past the cliffs of Carlsbad. Then came some more, followed by even more.
Temecula resident and retired dermatologist Dr. Ed Rather used his cell phone to snap pictures of the numerous birds in flight just after sunset.
Together with his wife, Kay, the Rathers head down to Carlsbad whenever they can. This photo was taken in the area of Tamarack State Beach. Whenever he spies a row of pelicans, he always tries to capture the shot.

“I was amazed to see such a huge number of pelicans at one time,” he said. “Generally, it will be a flight of 10 to 15 and these flights were 50 to 100. It was fascinating and beautiful to watch.”
And fascinating to see! Thanks so much for sharing.
