Klopp demands Liverpool ‘fix two biggest construction sites’ with ‘transfer offensive’ on horizon

Jurgen Klopp wants to “fix the two biggest construction sites” at Liverpool as soon as possible in an effort to turn their season around, according to reports.

The Reds are currently sitting in ninth position in the Premier League table after losing their last two matches to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

It has put them 15 points behind leaders Arsenal and eight points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle United with Liverpool struggling to get any consistency.

And now Sky Sport Germany claims that Klopp ‘would like to pull together with the Liverpool bosses and fix the two biggest construction sites as quickly as possible’.

The report adds:

‘Because the first big issue in the Reds locker room is communication problems, which can also be seen again and again on the field with the paths that need to be fixed. In particular, the two South Americans Luis Diaz and summer signing Darwin Nunez hardly speak English, and Klopp wants to change that quickly.

‘The second big problem is central midfield. With Fabinho, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Thiago, Arthur Melo, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner there are eight players available for the three positions in Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3 system, but they are Germans only Fabinho, Henderson and Milner almost regularly ready. The other five players regularly struggle with injury problems.’

Sky Sport Germany continue by claiming that Liverpool will ‘start a transfer offensive by next summer at the latest’. Klopp wants ‘new top stars’ and the report names Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer as his top targets for midfield.

And Tim Sherwood is backing Klopp to get Liverpool through this tricky period and reckons he would only face losing his job if they failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.

“It’s a difficult moment without a doubt but I think Jurgen Klopp is the right man to get them through,” Sherwood said on talkSPORT.

“He’s an experienced manager. Obviously when you lose games it affects you a lot more. He will be scratching his head trying to find a solution to his team’s problems at the moment.

“I see the best chance [of success] and the best chance of motivating that group of players is when they play in the Champions League. They are capable of doing that, we’ve seen them do it before, why can’t they win it again?”

Sherwood added: “If he doesn’t and they finish outside of the top four and they don’t win the Champions League – I think there’s a conversation to be had as I’m not sure Jurgen could take them back to challenging again.”

The former Tottenham manager continued: “You’d have to say the Premier League’s gone. Because it’s gone so early – a quarter of the way through the season – Where is the motivation for them in the Premier League?

“They’re a group of players used to challenging for the title year in year out – they’ve won it before.

“I think they’ve mentally accepted that they can’t win the Premier League. I think they can still get into the top four.

“They can put together a run of 15 games without getting beaten. Liverpool are capable of doing that but do I see it happening? Is it on the horizon? No.”
