Joliet Cop Kicked In The Chest By Angry Trespasser: Prosecutors
JOLIET — A 30-year-old Joliet woman from the 200 block of Kathlyn Place has been let out of the Will County Jail following last week’s arrest by the Joliet police in connection with allegations that she attacked one of an officer, kicking her in the chest.
According to her latest criminal complaint, Morissa Scott has been charged by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow with aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer and criminal trespass to property.
On Aug. 11, Scott made physical contact with Joliet police officer Andrea Espinosa who was performing her official duties; “said defendant kicked Andrea Espinosa in the chest,” the criminal complaint showed.

The resisting arrest charge against Scott indicates that the Joliet 30-year-old kicked Officer Espinosa in the chest, knocking her to the ground, and “said violation was the proximate cause of an injury to Andrea Espinosa.”
The third and final charge, criminal trespass, accuses Scott of entering the land of another, Madison Park Condominiums at 210 Madison Street, “after receiving notice from the owner to depart.”

Last week marked Scott’s fourth trip to the Will County Jail since 2022, jail logs reflect.

According to court records, Scott was ordered released from custody because “the defendant is not charged with a detainable offense pursuant to” the SAFE-T-Act.
Scott’s next court hearing is set for Aug. 27 in Courtroom 405. A Will County judge has put her on electronic monitoring for the time being.
