The nanny state is back with a bang and this time it has banned alcohol in Goa.

Drinking publicly on the beaches of Goa will soon be a thing of the past. On July 17, chief minister Manohar Parrikar has announced that drinking alcohol at public places in Goa will attract heavy fine from August 15.

“There will be a heavy fine if you are found drinking (in public) from the month of August. We intend to do it before August, so that we can implement it from August 15,” Parrikar said at a function on Monday.

However, he didn’t specify the amount.

He added that littering public places with beer bottles would also attract steeper fines.

Is banning the solution?

The Indian government has been on a banning spree of late. From banning late-night parties to restriction on entry of local Goans in casinos, following a dress code, hostel timings, etc. Some of the restrictions that do not make sense in the 21st century. Also, the beef ban has led to mob violence and lynching, on which the state seems to have lost all grip. Anti-Romeo squads are wandering the streets of Uttar Pradesh to keep a check on the moral behaviour of the youth.Click Here: st kilda saints guernsey 2019
