Critically acclaimed ELO albums include Eldorado (1974), which included the chart-topping single “Can’t Get It Out of My Head .” In 1975, the band released Face The Music, which featured the singles “Evil Woman” and “Strange Magic.”
The album A New World Record released the following year produced more hits — “Livin’ Thing,” “Telephone Line” and “Do Ya.”
The hits continued, including the singles “Turn to Stone,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman” and “Mr. Blue Sky” from the band’s 1977 album Out of the Blue.
In 1979, the multi-platinum album Discovery was released that featured “Don’t Bring Me Down.”
Throughout the decades, ELO has undergone various bandmember iterations, but Lynne has remained the anchor. In addition to being a musician, singer-songwriter and record producer, he is also a collaborator, having worked with acts like the Beatles, the Traveling Wilburys, Joe Walsh, and countless others.
Lynne was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame last year; ELO was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
ELO has more than 20 Top 40 Hits across the U.S. and the U.K. and has sold over 50 million records worldwide.
Lynne was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to music.
