Blue Hill at Stone Barns, located in Tarrytown, retained two stars. Family Meal at Blue Hill in Manhattan retained one star, but the restaurant was also awarded a Michelin Green Star for incorporating vegetable-focused dishes, meat-free supply chains and education in sustainability into its cuisine.

Dan Barber, Blue Hill’s chef and co-owner, told Patch that retaining the stars is a gigantic accomplishment for both Blue Hill teams.

“Family Meal’s green star — in recognition of our commitment to sustainability — is particularly gratifying as the team has worked hard to be an example of what a restaurant in the middle of Manhattan can achieve by focusing their efforts,” he said.

The Michelin Guide, which awards stars every year, now rates more than 30,000 establishments in more than 30 territories across three continents.

Stars are awarded on the basis of the quality of the cuisine served by a restaurant at a given time. The awards are based on anonymous and independent dining experiences of the inspection teams.
