Dismembered Body Found In Plastic Bag At LA Strip Mall
ENCINO, CA — A homeless man discovered the dismembered body of a woman in a Ventura Boulevard dumpster Wednesday morning, according to police.
The woman had been cut up and disposed of in a plastic bag found in a dumpster behind a sushi restaurant at Ventura Boulevard and Rubio Way at about 6:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities found her torso but no other body parts. It had been placed in a black bag inside a duffel bag. Police believe the victim was dismembered to delay her identification.
Later in the day, detectives were seen five miles away at a home in the 4100 block of Coldstream Terrace in connection with the case, KTLA reported.

There were no other immediate details on the person’s identity. It was unclear how long the remains may have been in the bin, or how long ago the victim may have died.
“We don’t know anything about the victim, which makes it incredibly difficult to figure out who the suspect is,” LAPD Detective Efren Gutierrez told reporters.

He asked “if there are any persons out there missing family members, missing loved ones or coworkers, to reach out to the Los Angeles Police Department and report them missing.”
“That way we can make a match on whether or not their missing loved one is a female, and once the coroner’s office is able to render an opinion as to age and ethnicity, then it’ll narrow down the possibility of identifying the victim. And that would more likely lead us to a possible suspect,” he said.
The dumpster serves a Ventura Boulevard strip mall bordering a residential neighborhood on Rubio Way.
Gutierrez said investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the area in hopes of generating additional leads.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information about the case can call the LAPD at 877-LAPD-247.
