Young Mom Of 3 Dies After Battle With Aggressive Cancer

LOCKPORT, IL — Elizabeth Curtner, a young mom of three from Tinley Park, died Oct. 19 after battling a rare, aggressive cancer.

Elizabeth is survived by her three young daughters, the youngest of whom is seven months old, her sister Robin Curtner, of Lockport, said.

Robin owns Magical Marketing in Lockport, and has worked with several local businesses to help gather support for her sister.

“I can’t thank the community, my family and friends enough for the outpour[ing] of love to Elizabeth and the girls,” Robin said.

Elizabeth, 34, was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in June, Robin told Patch previously. At that appointment, Elizabeth was told she had no more than a year to live.

Elizabeth went through the most aggressive treatments, but the cancer continued to spread, Robin said.

“I literally am sick to my stomach with the fact that Ill never see her again, my phone will never ring with her calling or get the opportunity to hug her again,” Robin said. “My heart hurts and it’s broken. The only thing I can do now is focus on her three beautiful girls that mean everything to my family.”

An upcoming fundraiser will be held on Dec. 21 at 223 Main in Lemont, Robin said. Proceeds from the fundraisers go to a fund that was set up by Elizabeth herself, to go toward her three girls.

“I kept saying at her wake that it’s just completely backwards. No one should bury their child, little sister or friend at 34 years old. Those girls don’t deserve to grow up without their beautiful mama,” Robin said.
