3 Former Schoolhouses Now Homes, 1 With 1840s Outhouse: How Much House
ACROSS AMERICA — This week in How Much House, we’re going old school — as in, we’re featuring three homes that were once schoolhouses given a second life.
The greenest buildings are those that already exist, according to adaptive reuse experts. Schoolhouses aren’t always abandoned by school districts because they’re falling down, but because needs and priorities change. In many cases, these vacant buildings are still rock solid with strong bones and may be among the most architecturally interesting in a community.
Come along with us on a tour of three homes that once were schools. And please take note: There’s no quiz afterward.
