Two separate bottlenose dolphins were found in Wildwood and Woodbridge on June 22 and 23, respectively, according to data from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center.

The Risso’s dolphin had to be euthanized due to “poor body condition,” the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said.
All three were taken for necropsies and results are pending.
Of the dolphins stranded at the Jersey Shore this year, the few that have necropsy results were found to have parasitic infections, according to Marine Mammal Stranding Center data. Some others were found with no food in their stomachs, but most are still pending results.
Data shows that 43 dolphins have been stranded at the shore in 2023, a number on par with previous years with the exception of 2013, where 150 bottlenose dolphins were killed by a virus.
